Day 4: Prescott, AZ to Winslow, AZ
152.2 miles / 9:04 hours moving, 1:17 stopped / 10331' climbing (ouch)
16.8 mph avg, 42.7 mph max / 7624 calories spent
Breakfast: Cold pizza (my first cold pizza breakfast ever), oatmeal with banana & strawberry
Snack 1: Banana, watermelon
Snack 2: Banana, 1/2 slice of pizza (I took some with me)
Snack 3: 2 hard boiled eggs, 2 oreos
Lunch: Egg salad, cheese, lettuce & tomato sandwich, coke
Snack 4: Pringles potato chips
Pre dinner snack: Large strawberry shake with wiped cream, small fries, 4 chicken nuggets
Dinner: Tortellini Alfredo with chicken, salad, coke
Lots of climbing today with a late lunch. As it happens, Lon (the owner of PACTour and several times winner of the RAAM) had a nice surprise for the last 40 miles: a long downhill into Winslow with a massive tail wind: We averaged 28 mph, many times I was going so fast that I simply couldn't go faster.
There was a very beautiful downhill into the town of Jerome, unfortunately the photo I took was useless, so you'll have to just trust me that the views were great: Deep canyons with red rocks all over. Just Google it.
I did not get a photo on the corner of Winslow, maybe tomorrow morning we will...

ReplyDeleteNico, I've finally joined the spectators in the bleachers. Sorry for the delay. So you're at it again, making all us couch potatoes shift uncomfortably in our seats. Saw your mother's talk last night. She was great, but the sound system was a mess. Looking forward to the opera tonight.
